I have been around for close on 30 years, working and owning businesses and there is part I have never really got my head around.
Bosses that employ people and expect them to work all the hours in the day, have no consideration for their personal lives and family at home. I was taught that you need to get as much out of your employee as possible, the unwritten rule that Managers are not bound by time and must work as the business requires, if it means 18 hours a day, seven days a week, they need to do what it takes to make the Bosses pockets bigger.
Why is it accepted and why do employee’s feel that this is what they need to do to be successful, the carrot in front of the donkey trick. The thing is you never get the carrot, it is always just out of reach.
“I have a dream” Mr. MLK
What if the employee’s is become shareholder’s?
What if the person that has the money takes the smaller share?
What if the operating partner of the business has a larger share even if his initial investment is smaller?
Why is no value placed on the day to day work done by the operator?
Why do employee’s serve?
What if employer’s also serve?
Lets create a business were Entrepreneur funds the business and finds the RIGHT operator to run his business, takes the smaller dividend and shares the larger with his team.
I have worked for lots of different entrepreneurs and there are three specifically that are giants amongst men;
- Miki Milovanovic
- Paul Christie
- Roy de Gouveia
I consider them mentors and good friends
There is too many others that have no respect for people and treat them like commodities. Scullers and MD’s are no different and deserve equal amounts of respect.
